2011, Year of Mastery? I can almost hear you say, “Are you crazy? It was the worst year I can remember. First there were a series of disasters in the world and then at least three or more in my personal life. What kind of ‘mastery’ is that??!!

O.K. I know many of us have seen our dreams dissolve or at least take a startling side track. I realize globally it has been a year  of distressing weather. Hundreds of souls left the planet to “go home”. Many of the institutions we had counted on, depended on, simply failed.

On Sunday January 1, 2012 in  an attempt to sooth our lives and emotions, perhaps improve our upcoming experiences, many churches and other groups held “burning bowl” ceremonies. The very personal situations that individuals wanted to release from 2011 were written on slips of paper and burned. That is fine but I just have a different point of view.

For me 2011 was a year when magnificent changes in perspective began to appear. People began to accept more responsibility for their own lives. Suddenly it became clear that each of is the architect of our own personal future.

In fact with meditation and perseverance many of us diligently searched and began to find our own answers. We began listening to our own spirits and higher selves. We no longer depended on governments or corporate institutions to think for us. That is what I see as the beginnings of Self Mastery!

Yes, for me 2011 was a beautiful time. I found wonderful new friends. I expanded my healing-teaching practice in ways I had not considered previously. New practical tools for teaching intuitive development came to me. I earned my Clinical Hypnotist certification.

I will always see 2011 as a time of great personal progress. It was a time when I assimilated new ideas, new ways of living. Even in the difficult and “prickly” times, and there were many,  I understood the advantages of change no matter how sudden, dramatic and startling.

I do not wish to “burn” any of 2011. Instead I intend to carry the lessons learned and the knowledge acquired into 2012 to be analyzed, understood, incorporated and used in my new year to the best of my ability.

While I am eagerly anticipating what the new year may bring, I remain steadfastly grateful for every one of my experiences of the year just past. At least from my point of view 2011 was indeed a “Master Year”.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Dawn comes. It is a new day. It is a new beginning and a new chance. Whatever you want to change, whatever you want to create for your life. You have the power. The time to start is now.

No need to wait for a new week, a new month or a new year. Start today with this moment, this brand new day. Your future starts now with one small change at a time as you begin manifesting your vision, your dream.

So many times, far too many times, we put off, delay, and postpone our greatest desires until… Until what? Until conditions are perfect? They never will be. Until everyone agrees with our plan? Believe me, you will never get “everyone” to agree on anything. Until conditions are right? Ha! Conditions are always in flux. Putting your life on hold “until” just allows your visions to fade and die.

I encourage all of us to push forward with joy and enthusiasm, taking whatever actions seem right to us. Let us decide to use our highest wisdom, believe in our own Spirit-infused intuitive natures and begin to accomplish our future today.

Yes, New Year’s resolutions are fine but what about the Monday starting the week resolutions? Even better could we perhaps decide to wake every morning with the enthusiastic belief that this very day we can and will accomplish the next step in our life path goals?

I am suggesting that each of us make a plan and hold that plan close in our hearts. Give your ideas the love and energy they deserve. Expect growth, expect blooming. The results will come.

Know that you may encounter opposition from friends and even family. You may be subjected to unwanted advice. Not everyone will understand or agree with the things you do for your own progress. Nevertheless do not let anything or anyone stop you from acting on your personal truth.

You are the one in charge of shaping your life in the direction it was always intended to go. You are free to be the your very best you. Do not give your precious power away by letting others dictate what is right for you.

Each one of you is unique, special and valuable. Your talents, your skills, your outlook are all your personal gifts and attributes. You are not like anyone else. Be proud of your individuality and use it for your special brand of service in this earth life.

The actions that each of us takes now are the forerunners of our future. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Give your best self to life today.

Yes, decide to make a change or two or three or more! After all this is a time of rapid and sometimes radical changes here on earth. We need to be willing to change as well. While it is true that change is not always easy, for now and the foreseeable future, change and adaptation will be the way of our lives. Realize we all need to learn to flow with change and adapt.

We have all watched as global business fell, those pillars of our economy that we believed would stand forever. We have seen weather sweep in and demolish much that had seemed strong and permanent causing great loss of life. Even personal relationships we had forged with love were dissolved over something as small as a difference of opinion.

We wonder at the seeming chaos everywhere. What could be bringing all of this confusion into our lives? Where is this restlessness coming from?

Here is the truth as I see it. We have been far too complacent too long. We have felt that acting from our individual interests was good enough. We further assumed that if things did not work out according to our personal plan and intentions, there was always a structure in place, government or otherwise, that would take care of us.

Now is the time to wake up. It is the time to realize that we are intimately and irrevocably connected to every human on earth. We do not exist or act in a vacuum. Furthermore we arrived on this planet to serve. It does not matter what our talents are, a carpenter, a typist or a philosopher, it holds true that we are here to serve! The way we pursue our personal life path, everything we individually do, affects everyone else in a small or large way.

Why should we personally bother to make a change or a series of changes? To thrive and enjoy abundant life, or even to merely survive, we must move forward with new business models; new personal behavior models. It is time to look at our lives with an intensity we may never have used before. We need to measure every planned action of our own with the yardstick of unconditional love. Is this loving? How will it affect others? Is it kind? Is it needful? Otherwise we simply fall into the backwaters of indifference, affecting nothing in any positive way, just drifting through life, eating and sleeping wherever we find food and rest.

Yes, we know the earth is reinventing herself, trying to ascend. Are we going to be part of the solution or part of the problem? Can we analyze our lives and see where we need to change, where perhaps we need to “grow up” and take responsibility for those acts which add or subtract from the whole?

There is no other time which is more appropriate for committing to the practice of unconditional love than this time in which we are living. Separation between people or nations is not working. It never has. Wider rifts and more wars solve nothing.  Additionally, selfishly taking all of the resources of the earth in greater and greater amounts is not working and leaves our mother earth with no chance to recoup.

Let us look now and see how our lives are affecting the whole of life. What can we individually and mutually do to make the best changes, to create the most positive and gracious impact from the way we live our daily lives?

Have you ever really seen a flower? Have you looked at a flower in depth? I think we all appreciate the beauty of a flower. All flowers are pretty whether it is a daisy on the lawn or a bouquet from the florist. But have you seen more than just petals and stem? Have you seen all of it both within and without? Have you sought to know a flower’s life force?

A flower is a microcosm of all life. It begins as an idea or pattern held by the mother plant. That pattern creates the bud. From a tightly closed bud it moves on to full flowering. Ultimately, while seeming to wither, instead it forms a vibrant living seed.

From that seed begins the next cycle. When given the right soil that seed births a new mother plant. Every action is purposeful. Every phase of that plant based life cycle is meaningful and important.

I encourage you to begin seeing any flower from chrysanthemum to tulip with different eyes. See not just a single color but a collage of shades of color. Look at its powder dusted center. Feel the soft consistency found there. Smell the fragrance and let it take you back to memories that it stirs within you. Feel any sensations and emotions that are triggered by the colors and the scent.

In your imagination see yourself touch the petals of your favorite flower from the center to the outer edges. As a child perhaps you loved dandelions. Reacquaint yourself with all the texture of those dandelions or any of your favorite blooms. Enjoy looking at the variety existing within the smooth surfaces; ridges, curves, diagonal lines. When you are satisfied that you truly know the flower, go within its heart where its true essence lies. Find the life flow that is its truth. Feel the vibration, the activity that is occurring within it. Discover the energy, the life force that pulses there.

That motivating creative energy that propels itself from the plant into its outpouring as a flower is the same energy that is within you. Yes it manifests itself differently but it is still the magnificent energy that underlies all life. Whether that energy forms a person, a mountain or a sea, it is the one energy of Light or Spirit.

It is our tendency as busy humans to take much of life for granted. We hurry through our days with hardly any sense of the miracles that surround us. If you will spend just a few moments every day opening your senses of sight, hearing, touch and smell to a greater depth, your appreciation of the gift of life itself will enlarge.

Walk outside in the early morning. Listen to all the varied sounds. Feel the moisture in the air. Note the color of the sky, the shapes of the clouds.  Watch the birds, the squirrels, the way the breeze moves the leaves on the trees. If you will take the time to enjoy nature in that way you will find yourself in an eyes-open walking meditation. Your willingness to relax and lose yourself in nature, to still the chatter of your mind, brings an excellent opportunity to hear the voice of Spirit. Ask questions of your guides and your angels. Then just listen.

When you are completely open and aware, truly thankful for all that is, the cosmos herself will open to you in unexpected and gratifying ways. Each day reveals itself as a gift to treasure. Those sometimes harsh aspects of day to day work fade into mere background noise, just shadows on the wall.

Your own thankfulness triggers more and more reasons to be joyful. Each new moment shows itself as a blessing. Decide today to label every day “good” from morning through night because every day is good. Every day is a beautiful gift. Exercise your imagination to expect wonderful rich surprises.

As we begin to know life’s many miracles we cannot help but radiate a deeper form of love to all those we touch. Appreciation for people, animals and the entire natural world comes easily. Love and loving become our way of life. Those events we used to label “irritations” or worse become merely “curiosities” that lead us to greater understanding of ourselves and others.

No life is without challenges. Perhaps you may have encountered relationship problems, money woes, physical discomforts of various kinds. All of these experiences seem real enough but what is important is where we put our attention, where we decide to spend our energy and what we amplify.

It is our intention and attention that form the fabric of our life experiences. Belief in the basic goodness of life is a wonderful tool for positive creating. Speak words of affirmation for your life and the lives of other. See yourself moving forward implementing your plans with ease and grace.

Giving center stage and great applause to what we don’t want makes no sense. Why not decide to acknowledge all the goodness and beauty both within and without? Go within. Activate that magnificent energy that you can form in any way you choose. You are able to access your personal ability to bring all of your experiences and manifestations to a higher level.

Decide to believe that everything you sense around you has at its core, as its base material and construction, Love and Light. Everything, everyone, every creation has as at its origin, its center, Love and Light. No matter the outer appearance it can be no other way.

To be completely and fully alive, we need to sharpen our senses. We need to be inquisitive about all life and embrace the variety we encounter with courage.

But where to start? First begin by sensing the qualities and attributes of your world. Investigate Mother Earth’s natural laws, her plants, her animals and her human inhabitants with all their varied actions and motivations.

Then decide to accept and allow all that “is” exactly as it is in this moment, even if at first you must do it from a distance. Taking those beginning steps of exploration and analysis, looking squarely at how things are now, will reveal much to you about your own life path.

I elect to call this day including all its ups and downs, all its ins and outs, not only good but “PERFECT”. Yes I see it as totally and absolutely perfect. I am certain it is perfect because, as always, it has brought me new experiences and new understanding. And when tomorrow arrives, bringing its multiple discoveries and gifts, I will label it “PERFECT” as well!
